A new shop in Cumbria has officially begun trading after hosting a grand opening event featuring the local mayor earlier this month.
Budgens hosted the event on Saturday, September 2 at its premises on Woodhouse Road in Whitehaven, with Chris Hayes marking the opening by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
Owned by the Sharma family, who have run businesses in West Cumbria for over 33 years, the grocery store will be one of over 260 Budgens in the UK.
Chris Hayes said: "It was a lovely event and the sun was shining, it was lovely to meet all the Sharma family, and many thanks for the lovely food and drink and not forgetting the huge cake. It was an honour to cut the ribbon on this lovely shop."
