A new skills event to support jobseekers is to be held in Cumbria next month.

Partnership working in Eden has created the skills event, which will be held on Thursday, October 5 from 2 - 5.30 pm at Penrith Leisure Centre.

The first part of the event will allow jobseekers to meet employers with vacancies and apprenticeships.

Schools are also invited to attend to give young people the chance to meet employers in order to understand apprenticeship routeways and recruitment practices and speak to employers from a range of sectors about their future.

Employers from BAE to Westmorland & Furness Apprenticeship Team including Banking, Accountancy, HMF will be available for young people to talk to.

Neil Hudson MP is supporting the event as are the LA, FE, and University of Cumbria. 35 employers have so far committed to attend.

There are a small number of spaces left and if an employer has an apprenticeship offer or similar and would like a stand they should contact Penrith job centre to book on to the event.
