HERE'S a round-up of some of the more recent major housing developments that could be coming to the Carlisle area.
62 new homes in Longtown
A proposed Longtown housing development could be given the go-ahead by councillors next week.
Gleeson Homes has applied for planning permission to build 62 properties and associated infrastructure on land to the south east of St Michaels Drive, Brampton Road.
It will be decided by members of Cumberland Council’s planning committee at Allerdale House in Workington on Wednesday (September 27) from 10.30am.
During the consultation process notification letters were sent to 40 neighbouring properties and, in response, 12 letters of objection were received as well as one from ward councillor Tim Pickstone.
90 new homes west of city centre
Back in February, Penrith-based housing developer Genesis Homes sought permission from the former Carlisle City Council to create a new development on current agricultural land located on the junction of Orton Road and Sandsfield Road, west of the city centre.
The development will comprise a mixture of two to five bedroomed homes, with associated public open space in the form of a neighbourhood green for the community to enjoy.
42 bungalows in Little Corby
A planning application has been put forward for 42 bungalows in a village east of Carlisle.
The proposal submitted by Citadel Homes Ltd seeks planning approval for the build in Little Corby.
Plans were submitted to Cumberland Council on September 15.
Decision on 112 homes for Scotby deferred
A decision on controversial plans to bring more than 100 homes to the east of Carlisle has been put back because of a hedgerow.
Cumberland Council's planning committee were due to decide whether or not to grant planning permission for the application at the Civic Centre in Carlisle on Wednesday (August 30).
However, they were informed at the start of the meeting that residents had objected to the plans and there was confusion over whether or not the boundary, where the hedgerow was located, had been correctly placed and needed further clarification.
163 homes plan in Houghton
In the wake of a formal objection being submitted against a 163-home development, villagers remain positive that they will be able to stop the developer in their tracks.
The community-led action group, Stop Gleeson Homes @Houghton, previously made headlines by raising over £2,500 to hire a planning consultant to champion their cause against the Gleeson Homes development at Brunstock Lane, Houghton.
Over 150 homes on the outskirts of Carlisle
Back in December, an application for the building of more than 150 homes on the outskirts of Carlisle was approved by the former Carlisle City Council.
Carlisle City Council’s development control committee unanimously approved a reserved matters planning application from Penrith-based Genesis Homes for 157 'high-specification' homes to be built on land near Cumberland House Clinic, west of Cumwhinton Drive.
