CUMBRIA is shining brightly after what is known as the 'Oscars' of the hospitality industry. 

The prestigious AA Hospitality Awards, hosted by TV presenter Claudia Winkleman, dazzled attendees at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London on Monday night (September 25), unveiling the crème de la crème of hotels, restaurants, and staff across the country.

Among the winners were six Cumbrian establishments, helping to solidify the region's reputation as a culinary and hospitality hotspot.

In the Restaurants of the Year category, Ambleside's Michelin-starred The Old Stamp House scooped up a sterling win, named as the best in restaurants across England. 

 

Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms, Allium at Askham Hall in the Lake District was named the winner of the AA Wine Award, England and overall, in recognition of its exceptional wine list which is said to be one of the most interesting and diverse in the country.

Nico Chieze, Askham Hall’s Maître de Maison, said: “We have always given our wine list and cellars the same level of love, care and dedication as we do our food, so to receive this recognition is just wonderful.”

Forest Side in Grasmere emerged as the Hotel of the Year for England.

The team was quick to share their excitement on social media.

"We have no words, The whole team is buzzing and have recovered their sore heads to be honest.

"It’s taken years of consistent development, evolution, love, pride and affection," they said. 

The 1863 Restaurant with Rooms, in Pooley Bridge, was 'over the moon' to receive the coveted 3 Rosettes recognition. 

"We are absolutely over the moon with this achievement. This award truly is a testament of passion and dedication of everyone involved, both past and present.

"Thank you to everyone for your continued support," they said. 

The Michelin-starred Samling Hotel, in Windermere, received its fourth Rosette star. 

"Well done to all the winners of the evening, especially the Cumbrian venues, very well deserved awards heading to the county. It’s certainly a foodie destination," they said on Facebook. 

Cedar Tree Restaurant by Hrishikesh Desai, at Brampton's Farlam Hall, also received its third Rosette. 

On Instagram Hrishikesh said: "Thank you team Farlam Hall, your teamwork has made this possible. An award no matter big or small, is an award to celebrate with your team, be proud. 

"Thank you to all our guests who have visited us and given us all the constructive feedback. Thank you," he said.
