A CUMBRIAN man has appeared in court charged with firearms offences, following an incident outside the grounds of Buckingham Palace just days before the coronation.
David Huber, 60, of North Stainmore, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, October 3) charged with a number of offences following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Huber was charged yesterday, October 2 with:
- Possession of a bladed article, contrary to Sections 139(1) & (6) of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) 1988;
- Possession of an offensive weapon, contrary to Section 141 (1) of the CJA 1988;
- Three counts of possession of ammunition without holding a firearm certificate, contrary to Section 1 of the Firearms Act 1968;
- Possession of a weapon subject to general prohibition, contrary to Section 5 (1)(b) and Schedule 6 of the Firearms Act 1968.
He has been bailed to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on November 3 for a plea and case management hearing.
On May 2, 2023 police officers detained a man after he approached the gates of Buckingham Palace and threw a number of items into the Palace grounds, only four days before the King's Coronation on May 6.
