A COMMUNITY pub in Morton has announced a closure after only reopening back in April.

The Royal Scot, known for pub grub and its beer garden, was taken over by two locals and past regulars at the pub earlier this year, Adam Smith and Jordan Morrison, who also run ‘Stackerz Grill Bar’ on Botchergate.

In a post on social media, they thanked their supporters on September 14.

"As a lot of people will of heard the Royal Scot is closing after this weekend.

"Would like to just say a massive appreciation to the ones that have supported and those that haven’t can bounce," it read.

The post also indicated that a new owner may be coming in to take over the site.

However, pictures circulating the web show the pub covered with metal security screens and fencing surrounding it as of this week.

Many pub-goers wished the duo well with their next business venture.

Before the April takeover, The Royal Scot closed its doors in September 2022 after previous landlords Mike and Maxine Grierson decided to retire

The announcement of the pub's most recent closure came with an internal and external 'everything for sale' post.

The sale comes with everything from picnic tables and sofas to Singer sewing machines.

In a similar fashion, Carlisle's Howard Arms also announced they would be closing their doors at the beginning of September - leaving customers 'gutted'.

Dianne and Iain who have owned the pub for four 'very enjoyable years' have decided to call last orders at the Howard Arms whilst they concentrate on their other two Carlisle pubs, the Crown Inn, and the Milbourne Arms.

They cited Covid, cost-of-living, energy bills and the closure of the Lanes Shopping Centre access way at night as reasons for their decision to close.

The Royal Scot was approached for comment.
