Police arrested a man over a racially aggravated public order offence at Carlisle United's game at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
It has been confirmed that a 25-year-old man was arrested at the game at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
Greater Manchester Police, who carried out the arrest, also said they are working with Bolton to try and "tackle the issue" of hate crime.
In a statement, GMP said: "At the Bolton Wanderers v Carlisle United match, officers arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
"GMP take a zero-tolerance stance towards hate crime and will continue to work with the club in tackling this issue."
The arrest took place at a game Carlisle United won 3-1 in front of a 23,187 crowd, which included 18,780 home supporters and 4,407 Blues fans.
