THE Lake District will host its first-ever underground Santa’s Grotto at Honister Slate Mine.
Set amid the Borrowdale Valley, the “Secret Santa’s Grotto at Honister” is a new experience to the region. The slate mine promise it will be "a one-of-a-kind experience".
In the past, many have travelled to Ambleside for the Hayes Garden World experience, which consistently sells out each year. But now, the mine is bringing the "Santa's Secret Grotto" closer to home.
The transformation of the grotto has begun and for guests the journey through is expected to last approximately 1.5 hours. Additionally, visitors are invited to tour the centre, featuring a café, slate gallery, and gift shop, extending the adventure post Santa encounter.
Prentice Wilkinson-Wier, the owner of Honister Slate Mine, expressed his excitement, saying: "We've dreamed of bringing a Santa's Grotto experience to the Lake District for years, and we're thrilled to finally make it a reality. Our region deserves its own magical Santa’s Grotto experience, and we believe 'Santa's Secret Grotto at Honister' will deliver just that."
Booking for the grotto is available via Honister’s website with very limited availability for the inaugural year.
