THERE are many dogs and cats currently being homed in rescue centres across Cumbria that are desperately searching for their forever home this Autumn.
These pets are based in either Oaktree Animal Charity, or Animal Concern Cumbria, If you are interested in adopting one of these animals, you can contact either charity.
Ben
Ben is a two-year-old trailhound pup, who gains confidence from canine company and loves his walks especially up the fells.
Despite favouring walks (and picnics), Ben, a bit shy with people, becomes quite anxious when left alone. He might occasionally have indoor accidents.
Therefore, he requires an adopter ready for multiple visits for rapport build-up, preferably a home with at least one other dog, constant human presence, and more female residents.
However, once you gain his trust, he loves kisses and cuddles.
Ember
Ember is a 6-years-old DSH. Sadly, she is a twice-rescued cat but has strong personality so will be the perfect addition to a new home. She seeks a quiet, traffic-free forever home.
This lovable yet assertive feline adores attention and the comforts of a sofa cuddle. Originally found alongside others, Ember is a bit of an attention hog so it seems she will do better on her own!
Hope lies in her finding a loving family with a space for some serious cuddles on a comfy sofa.
Dougie
Dougie, who is currently staying at Oaktree Animal Charity, is a 9 year old Staffie cross. This fella has been at Oaktree for some time, but they note a huge change in his development and training. Dougie loves learning new tricks and needs a sense of security so he no longer feels the need to react to things that scared him previously.
Doug loves to learn new tricks! He is a clever lad so his mind needs to be put to good use, as well as someone who can laugh and have fun with him.
Flame
Flame, may started as a timid feline, shy initially, but with warmth she grows bold.
Flame, lovers of head bumps and chin scratches, emerges from her igloo-bed sanctuary when visitors approach. She is partial to quiet moments and outdoorsy antics, particularly in areas far from bustling highways.
The ideal forever home for Flame would offer a garden retreat, free from traffic threats.
Xena
Xena, the clever pooch who stole hearts at Animal Concern Cumbria last December, is hoping to find her forever family this Christmas.
Xena loves exploring and solving puzzles, enjoys toys, and prefers human company to other dogs. She has separation anxiety, but ACC's supportive behaviourist is ready to assist her new family free of charge.
On top of her charms, Xena yearns for a Christmas with a family to call her own. Any takers for this high-spirited, loving dog?
Lola
Lola is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois. She is an affectionate and bright pooch, seeking an owner to cater to her high stimulation needs.
Lola relishes engagement and company, which puts her at unease when left alone and may cause her reactiveness towards other dogs during walks.
Lola has previously been a part of a family with children and, whilst comfortable with kids, she prefers to be the focal point of human attention. What's more, Lola is house trained, crate trained and a good traveller.
Her foster carers stress Lola's favourite pastime as avid toy chasing, particularly suggesting a well-fenced garden for Lola to play in.
Due to her breed and energy levels, Lola will not be your typical pet dog. She needs extra attention to keep her physically and mentally fit.#
Laddie
Eighteen-month-old German Terrier, Laddie, is seeking new home with ready access to engaging mental challenges. This energetic chap, known for his excellent scent work, requires owners who can offer more than long walks.
Keen on mental stimulation, dog sports, or like activities are best suited for Laddie. Finding a calm environment is essential as external noise unsettles him.
It's recommended that he remains an only pet and does not reside with children.
Josh
Josh, an 8-month-old lurcher, weighing in at 25kg and still growing, seeks a patient, understanding home.
The playful pup showcases an active, enquiring mind, revelling in agility and hoopers courses. His carers describe him as "very loveable", although he may initially be uncertain of new faces.
A secure garden is desired for him to safely roam off-lead. With an inherent love for interaction, a home without any other pets is preferable.
A tasty biscuit may quickly earn his trust!
Snowball, Snowflake and Snowdrop
Snowball, a timid feline seeking a tranquil and understanding home, requires an owner with time and patience.
Neglected social experiences during kittenhood has made him wary of strangers, necessitating an adult or older children home without young kids.
His adoption could be positively paired with a sibling to boost his confidence, or another cat or calm dog post successful scent transfers.
Meanwhile, his siblings, Snowdrop and Snowflake, boast of a more sociable demeanor, making them suitable to be rehomed separately or together with kids or pets, post scent transfers.
Treacle and Hades
Treacle and Hades are mother and daughter and are hoping to find a new home together.
Treacle the mother is 6 years old and is starting to come out of her shell each day. She is quieter than Hades but loves giving head bumps.
Hades is 3 years old and is more confident, she loves getting attention and enjoys having a chat.
They are looking for a home with outdoor access no other pets.
