Four West Cumbrian businesses have pledged a commitment to their local communities with the launch of their joint engineering venture.
Resolve Engineered Solutions will bring together Forth, React Engineering, PAR Systems, and Cumbria Operations and Maintenance Service Ltd (COMS).
This union marks a significant change in how the nuclear industry can access high-value capabilities.
At the forefront of this merger is a shared appreciation for the community, recognising the role the local population has played in the success of each business.
From day one, the partnering businesses aim to ensure that their combined triumphs result in tangible benefits for their community.
Speaking at the launch event on Thursday evening, Mark Telford, Managing Director at Forth, said: “If Resolve works the way we hope it will, we want the money we bring in to stay here, the work to stay here in Cumbria, and the benefit to be felt by Cumbrians.
"We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our communities and workforce and as a collective we are determined to give something back.”
This ambitious partnership promises to make a significant impact.
The merging of these distinctive businesses offers a holistic approach to addressing complex engineering challenges.
Their combined expertise will ensure clients benefit from end-to-end solutions.
Kayleigh Daniels from React Engineering spoke about timing and adaptability in the business environment.
She said: “By bringing together our unique capabilities and offering this complete package we will make it harder for people to compete against us. We are all based in Cumbria, local to the Sellafield site and the benefits flow down to the community.”
At the launch event, John McGibbon, from PAR Systems, highlighted that the companies have already been collaborating on decommissioning projects, but now would be able to bid for work as the largest tier three company with a combined total of more than 200 employees.
Cliff Woodman, Business Director, COMS said: “Coming together will also mean that we can access sectors that the other companies work in. It’ll give us all the chance to grow, and try something new too as well as offering the full package to clients.”
During the event, those behind Resolve Engineered Solutions announced that they would be supporting Whitehaven RLFC by sponsoring a sleeve, taking pupils from Frizington and Cleator Moor to Oxford next year, and working closely with the Goodlives project in Whitehaven.
