Whitehaven and District Amateur Operatic Society are set to return to Whitehaven's Rosehill Theatre with one of Stephen Sondheim's most popular shows.
After last year's triumphant performance of The Addams Family, the society are returning with a production of Into The Woods.
The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella wishes to attend the King's Festival and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk.
When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse the two set off on a journey to break the spell.
Everyone's wish is granted but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
The show features some of the best West Cumbrian talent including Tracy McQuat as the witch, Becky Murray as the baker's wife and Sam Smethurst as the baker.
The show's director, said: "This is one of Stephen Sondheim's most popular works and it was adapted into a film in 2014.
"However, the stage show is much darker and more richly textured. Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show with many exciting challenges for our society.
