A series of equestrian kids’ clubs are being run for the October school holidays in Cumbria.

Calvert Stables, a riding establishment approved by the British Horse Society and Riding for the Disabled Association, which supports both disability charity Calvert Lakes and injury rehabilitation business Calvert Reconnections, is running them for three days.

The team provides accessible riding and trap diving for residential and community riders.

The two-hour sessions, which are for children 12 and under, will take place at 10am on October 22, 1.30pm on October 24, and 1.30pm on October 27.

Henri Crew, stables manager at Calvert Stables, said: “We’re thrilled to run our ever-popular Kids Clubs during the October school holidays.

“As well as riding, children will learn how to take care of their pony’s needs including grooming, tacking up, feeding and first aid.”

Earlier this year, ride and drive pony Queenie gave birth to bay filly foal Calvert Majestic Star, fondly nicknamed Peggy by stable staff after the Queen’s first pony.

“Queenie and Peggy are both doing really well,” Henri added.

“Queenie’s back at the stables receiving lots of love and attention while we’ve found a great home for Peggy, her beautiful filly foal.”
