A DRUG-DRIVER who made off from police has been banned from the roads for 14 months.

Harvey Robinson, 25, was driving a Volkswagen Polo in Maryport on April 2. One of his lights wasn’t working.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates’ Court said Robinson made off from police and had to be detained.

A drugs wipe was positive for cannabis and a blood test showed he had 7mcg of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The limit is 2mcg.

Ms Fee said the defendant had appeared in court on June 19 for a drug-driving offence that took place in December and had been disqualified.

Robinson, of Bridge Street, Maryport, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

Mike Woolaghan, defending, said: “The misuse of cannabis concedes with a particularly troublesome period in his life. He has removed himself from the stress he was struggling with.

“The vehicle has been sold. The temptation to drive has gone.

“There has been a marked reduction in the misuse of intoxicating substances.”

Robinson was banned from driving for 14 months. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
