Workington Golf Club’s Open competition has raised a whopping £3,500 for the West Cumberland Hospital Breast Cancer Clinic.
Fifteen teams from across Cumbria took part in the charity event where the pink flags and bra-clad trees kept spirits high.
The entry fee from each team brought in £560, while organisers Dawn Stamper and her team generated a further £920 from Cumbrian companies and golf clubs who donated and sponsored the event.
Clubhouse activities added more into the kitty: A putting competition and selling of memorial hearts totalled £218, a raffle brought in £921 and book and jigsaw sales collected £870.
The conquest of the competition was earned by Christine Brown, Janet Smith, Helen Aubert-Milburn, and Olivia Harrison from Cockermouth Golf Club.
Organisers Julia, Madeline, and Dawn took the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Clinic at West Cumberland Hospital where Dr Nedumpara and nurses Ann Cartmell and Natalie Walker gratefully accepted the impressive donation.
This donation could be used to provide bras for women post-surgery, to buy new medical equipment, or to host support groups.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to all involved, from those who participated, donated, and helped.
