New data has revealed that house sale transactions are taking an average of 120.84 days to complete across the Carlisle postcodes over the last year.
Professional house-buying firm Property Solvers’ speed of sale tool has revealed that it’s taking an average of 17.26 weeks to sell a property across Carlisle.
Updated monthly, the latest dataset analysed over 679 property sales across the region between October 2022 and October 2023.
Some of the quickest areas to sell a property at the moment include Maryport, Cockermouth, and Workington.
The statistics track the moment a property is listed on the UK’s leading property portals to the point it’s marked as officially ‘sold’ at the HM Land Registry.
In Maryport, there were 40 house sales in the last 12 months, and they took an average of 99 days to complete.
Homes were selling the slowest in the Wigton (CA7), Penrith (CA11), and Carlisle (CA3) postcodes, taking 137, 122, and 116 days on average respectively.
In the CA1 and CA2 postcodes in Carlisle, house sales would take 108 and 113 days on average respectively.
Ruban Selvanayagam of Property Solvers commented: "The property market is certainly in a different place relative to a couple of years ago. The continued pressures on the mortgage sector and buyers ability to secure the right kind of finance has resulted in delays with sales completing."
He concluded: "Combined with the recognised ‘snail pace’ nature of the conveyancing process, it’s likely that these trends are likely to remain for some time."
