The Sands Centre auditorium's temporary closure won't stop Carlisle’s Classics Series, with events slated to take place in a new setting.

The recent announcement of an extended shutdown of The Sands Centre auditorium led to considerable rearrangement, an effort made by the venue's dedicated team.

In upholding their commitment to local cultural offerings, the team has declared that the remainder of the concert series will continue in the Centre's new sports hall.

This relocation guarantees that the Carlisle Classics 23/24 season continues uninterrupted, ensuring local residents continue receiving world-class entertainment at their doorsteps.

Undeterred by the challenges faced, the Centre is firm in its dedication to the arts and culture within the community.

Daniel Charlton, Venue Manager, said “We are delighted that we have been able to relocate the Carlisle Classics series of concerts into the Sport’s Hall at The Sands Centre.

"We have been working very closely for a number of years with our colleagues at The Glasshouse in Gateshead to bring Classical music back to the diverse program of Shows and Events at our venue.

"Since the extended closure announcement we have been working to find alternative venues where possible and pleased that we will be able to accommodate these concerts at The Sands Centre still.

"Our box office team will be in touch with ticketholders shortly to share details on what to expect from the upcoming series”.

The Glasshouse, responsible for programming the Classics season, say they are pleased with the outcome.

A Glasshouse spokesperson said: “We’re so pleased that the Carlisle Classics season can continue at The Sands Centre. We’ve had a great response from audiences since we announced the season, and know how excited they were for upcoming concerts, which made our determination to commit to delivering the programme even stronger.

"The team at The Sands Centre have worked so hard to facilitate the change into one of the other spaces at the venue and our strong partnership means this new solution is brilliant for artists and audiences alike!”

The upcoming Classics series will kick-off on November 10 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

This will be followed by Beethoven's 'Eroica' Symphony on February 15, Elgar's Cello Concerto on March 16, Angela Hewitt's Mozart performance on April 28, and culminate in Brahms' First Symphony on May 9.
