CUMBRIAN favourite Helen Skelton will be hosting a new heart-warming show in which she will be reuniting lost treasures to their owners. 

Due to air in 2024, Lost and Found in the Lakes will feature Skelton and a team of experts tracing prized possessions throughout the Lake District.

The BBC series, made by North-Wales company Ty'r Ddraig, captures the drama and suspense of uncovering the lost items, as well as talking to the people who have an emotional connection to both the area and the items lost.

From divers to detectorists, the team will dive under lakebeds and roam forests to retrieve these lost articles.

This process sometimes involves the expertise of a social media detective who helps in launching online campaigns.

For items that remain unclaimed, they will receive a new lease of life by one of the area’s talented craftspeople.

“Thrilled to be part of this series filmed in my beloved Lake District.

"It’s a chance to showcase the areas natural beauty and by reuniting people with their lost treasures we have a chance to share some heart-warming stories," Helen said.

"We brought some very talented people on board, to help Helen clean up and restore the items found across the Lakes and surrounding areas, including some retrieved from the lakebeds.

“I think viewers are in for a treat as the series combines beautiful scenery, wonderful craftsmanship, touching human stories, and the suspense of whether the much loved items will be found by the team or not.”

 

The new show will follow on the back of the release of beloved TV icon's new memoir In My Stride: Lessons Learned Through Life and Adventure.
