A dispersal order was put in place in Carlisle last night following incidents of anti-social behaviour before the fire show in Bitts Park.
A dispersal order gives officers extra powers to ask individuals engaging in anti-social behaviour to leave the area and not return, if they return they risk being arrested.
There had been reports of a group throwing fireworks in the city centre which the police said would not be 'tolerated'.
The order was put in place at 5pm and was in place until 11pm on November 4 and covered the Bitts Park area and was extended to cover the city centre – Scotch Street, Lowther Street, English Street, Botchergate and Castle Street.
A number of individuals were dispersed from the area and officers also arrested at 16-year-old on suspicion of attempted criminal damage. He remained in police custody last night.
Inspector Andy Leather from Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing team said “Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
“We dedicated resources covering the fireworks show at Bitts Park and in the city centre to ensure everyone had a safe and enjoyable night.
