Two Cumbrian businesses have combined to donate over £6,000 to conservation charities in 2023.
Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, alongside the Lake District Wildlife Park have donated over £6,000 to three dedicated wildlife charities in 2023; Red Panda Network, SEED Madagascar, and The Hawk Conservancy Trust.
The contributions have played a pivotal role in advancing wildlife conservation efforts, empowering local communities and supporting critical projects that are making a difference around the world.
The donations were contributed by the hotel's guests, who have consistently shown their support for a noble cause. Additionally, money was raised through engaging animal encounters at the Wildlife Park, such as bird of prey experiences.
Ang Phuri Sherpa, executive director of Red Panda Network, a charity that champions red panda conservation, said: "Support from the Lake District Wildlife Park has been instrumental in training, mobilising, and providing field gear and equipment to RPN's Forest Guardians.
"The Forest Guardians are pillars of our community-based red panda conservation program. They are not only monitoring the red panda population but also keeping communities and conservation agencies informed about the status of red pandas in their respective forests."
SEED Madagascar said: "We're pleased to partner with zoos and wildlife parks to raise awareness of conservation in Madagascar. The Lake District Wildlife Park has been a long-term partner of SEED and has been both raising awareness through education sessions and collecting donations to support our Project Ala over the last six years. Having long-term, regular support for our work is very important for project continuity."
Carolyn Graves, director of Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa said: "Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa is deeply honoured to be a part of these remarkable conservation efforts. Our commitment to environmental sustainability and community support has been a guiding principle for our establishment. We are elated to see the tangible impact our donations have made in empowering these incredible charities.
"We believe that by working together, we can make a positive difference in preserving the natural beauty of the Lake District and the world. These partnerships reflect our dedication to creating a better future for all."
