A MAN has been put back behind bars after stealing wine and Frosty Jack’s cider on his release from prison.
Alan Kendrick, 46, of no fixed abode, admitted three charges of theft from a shop when he appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court.
Kendrick stole a bottle of wine worth £9.14 from Home Bargains in Workington on October 20.
He stole a bottle of Frosty Jack’s cider and a sandwich to the value of £8.99 from McColl’s in Workington three days later.
Kendrick then stole another bottle of wine worth £6.49 from Home Bargains on October 24. He stole another two bottles of wine, to the value of £13.48 from Home Bargains on the same day.
Magistrates felt only a custodial sentence could be justified because the offending was fuelled by a drug habit, he had just been released from prison, was on post sentence supervision and had a poor record.
Kendrick was jailed for a total of six weeks. He was ordered to pay a total of £38.10 in compensation to the stores he stole from.
