A NEW coffee shop and sweet treat cafe is set to come to Carlisle's city centre.
The Buttered Cat, which is targeting an opening date of no later than March 2024, will open in Kinmont Arcade facing out into Treasury Court in the unit that was previously occupied by I Love Cafe which recently relocated to St. Cuthbert's Lane.
Whilst the Buttered Cat's menu is yet to be confirmed, it was revealed that the new cafe will source their coffee from Bruce & Lukes Coffee and source their food from other local businesses as well as using local businesses and tradesmen to help build the unit.
The owner of the Buttered Cat Andrew Davenport also runs other businesses including Get-Pierced and Get-Modified with Kizzey Maclean which has a shop on Lowther Street that opened in 2017.
Ahead of the new coffee shop and sweet treat cafe's opening next year, Andrew shared his excitement at fulfilling his dream of becoming a cafe owner.
He said: "I’m excited to open a new business in an industry I’ve been learning about and always been an avid fan of, who doesn’t enjoy a good cup of coffee?
"It’s a very exciting and scary time for me but I can’t wait to see my ideas come to life, while it is a solo project I don’t feel like I’m alone as all of my friends, family, and even clients have been so supportive throughout I have an amazing team with me and I’ll never be able to thank them enough."
Andrew also detailed how he hopes the Buttered Cat will fill a gap in the Carlisle cafe market by providing a 'quick and easy takeaway service'.
He said: "After speaking to other business owners in the area something we noticed is that despite a plethora of amazing Cafes in the City for sit-down coffee & food, there’s a gap in the market catering to clients who are in need of quick and easy takeaway service."
