Friends and supporters of Eden Animal Rescue say they are building on the success of their breakfast fundraiser.

The Big Breakfast at Langwathby Village Hall raised £1,426.38 which go towards their fundraising to finance new kennels at their base at Moorlands Head Farm, Newbiggin, near Penrith.

The charity has a target of £500,000 to raise to fund the new kennels which will home 20 dog between arriving at the centre and getting a new home. This year, so far the charity has rehomed 52 dogs however, not all can find a new family quickly.

Now Eden Animal Rescue Charity Manager, Sarah Bean are now planning another foodie fundraiser with a pie and pea supper at Riverside Café in Appleby on Friday, 17 November starting at 7pm.

Chair of Eden Animal Rescue, Chris Cheetham said: “We are so grateful to all our fundraisers, who continue to come up with great ways to raise funds for our new kennel block. And I know they have even more ideas for 2024.

“We thank everyone who joined us for their their breakfasts and help raise funds towards to complete the building of the new kennels.

“I would like to thank all our supporters and those who join us and generously take part in our fun, fundraising events. Every penny helps in our fundraising for the new building.

“Work has started to prepare the site and we look forward to seeing the new kennel buildings becoming a reality next year.”

The new kennels will provide the dogs with an inside and outside area, and as well as the kennels for 20 dogs in our care, will also provide four additional kennels which can be used by dogs arriving before their vet check and as a medical isolation unit.

Eden Animal Rescue are aiming to have the building completed by September next year, and need to raise the £500,000 needed to complete the project.
