A WORKINGTON high school has reassured the community following a lockdown on the site this morning.

St Josephs Catholic High School confirmed the school had undergone a lockdown this morning, November 16, whilst they dealt with an 'incident' at the school.

The school has reassured parents and the community that there was no intruder on the site and the lockdown was a 'precautionary measure' whilst they dealt with an incident which is now resolved.

In a statement on social media, St Josephs Catholic High School said: "You may be aware that the school had a lockdown this morning.  We want to reassure you that all pupils are safe and there was no intruder on site.

"We kept children in their classes with their teachers as a precautionary measure whilst we dealt with an incident which is now resolved.

"We will be going round all classes today to reassure pupils."
