A POST van found itself in deep water near Carlisle earlier this week as Storm Debi caused disruption across the county.

A Royal Mail van was seen to be submerged in water on the Brisco road going out to Wreay on Tuesday, November 14 as it tried to deliver mail amid bad weather in the county.

The driver of the van was said to be uninjured by the incident and all mail is said to have been since delivered, or in the process of delivery following the incident.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: "The driver was uninjured and the vehicle has since been recovered.

"All items of mail have been retrieved and have either been delivered or are in the process of being delivered."

Cumbria police closed Brisco Road both ways due to flooding between Brisco (Brisco) and Wreay (Wreay), on Tuesday with the road remaining closed today, November 16.
