Man v Fat Football Carlisle, a weight loss football league for men, marked a successful end of season with an award ceremony.

The triumphant affair capped off an eventful season while celebrating the players' collective and individual achievements in fitness and football.

Launched in September 2021, the innovative league caters to men with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27.5 or higher.

Blending the thrill of football with a weight loss programme complete with diet tips, exercise advice, and weekly weigh-ins, the initiative is nurturing an encouraging atmosphere.

Cumulatively, their weight loss stands at an outstanding 745kgs (117st) since the club commenced operations.

The evening's accolades recognised diverse accomplishments ranging from the 'top scorer' to 'amazing loser'.

The team to clinch top honours was Borussia Muncheneverything Whites, who not only claimed the league championship but also aced a cup win shortly thereafter.

Individual players also got their moment in the spotlight.

Ash Clarkson bagged the Golden Boot by scoring 38 goals in 14 matches, he also received the Players' Player of the Season.

For his weight loss achievements, Mark Bray was acknowledged as the 'Amazing Loser' after losing 12 per cent of his body weight since the start of August.

Tim Linford, aged 65 and who recently celebrated retirement, joined the league in November 2021 and has since played a pivotal role in four different teams.

He was awarded the inaugural Tim Linford Award for his exceptional contributions to the club.

Mr Linford was described by his teammates as, "Mr Consistency. An absolute pleasure to play with and an absolute rock at the back. Every week he plays his heart out, and never fails to encourage the lads. He epitomises what MVF is about and is a huge part of the success of this club!”
