A LOCAL charity has launched an online auction as it aims to raise funds over the Christmas period.

Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice launched the charity auction on Friday, November 17, with it set to conclude at 12pm on Friday, December 1.

To make the auction possible, a number of local people and businesses, such as Pete Tyson, The Yoga Studio Carlisle, Pentonbridge Inn, and Avnati West Coast, donated 62 items that the local community can bid on.

These items include an Amazon Fire 43-inch 4K UHD smart TV, holiday vouchers, concert tickets, and a framed England shirt signed by the current Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

Following just over a week of bidding the auction has already raised £1,718 for the hopsice.

Relationship Fundraiser, Martha Pardoe said: "By supporting this auction and buying a gift for someone you love or treating yourself, you are helping contribute towards the £5 million a year which keeps your beloved hospice running for the people and families we care for."
