MOUNTAIN rescuers sprang into action to help a hiker who injured her ankle.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Saturday afternoon after a female hiker slipped on grass while descending the path from High Dodd.
Upon reaching the injured hiker, the team administered pain relief before splinting her injured ankle.
She was secured on a stretcher in preparation for descent.
The descent involved sledding the patient down to waiting Land Rovers.
The injured woman was then transported to Penrith Hospital where she was transferred to Carlisle for specialised medical attention.
Eleven team members were involved in the rescue which took four and a half hours.
