A GP SURGERY near Wigton has been rated 'Good' following an inspection by the health watchdog. 

The Croft Surgery, Kirkbride, which serves a rural community has upheld its positive rating following a visit from the Care Quality Commission on November 7. 

This announcement comes following a remote analysis of the surgery, which involved staff interviews using video conferencing facilities and requesting evidence from the surgery itself.

The service assessed five main aspects: safety, effectiveness, patient care, responsiveness, and management.

The report highlighted that patients are pleased with the availability of appointments at the surgery, which is matched by patient feedback obtained nationally via the GP patient survey.

"Patients were satisfied with the access to appointments offered by the practice," the report reads.  

"The practice understood the needs of its local population.

"The practice had an active and effective Patient Participation Group.

"The practice dealt with complaints in a timely manner and learned from them," it states. 

The practice is situated within the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and delivers patient care to a patient population of over 3,500 people.

The practice's medical staff comprises 5.6 full-time equivalent GPs and 1.4 nurses.

For out-of-hours services, patients are served by 111 and Cumbria Health On Call.
