A NEW store in Carlisle is a step closer to opening after organisers behind the project submitted a planning application.

It is for the proposed new Trailfinders travel agents and the site is 17-19 English Street where work is currently underway in converting the building.

The application, which was received by Cumberland Council on Monday (November 27), is for the display of an illuminated fascia sign and an illuminated projecting sign.

According to the planning application it would consist of a halo illuminated letter sign, a halo illuminated logo signage and sprayed aluminium letters, all mounted to painted timber.

The projecting or hanging sign would measure 0.5 metres by 0.7 metres by 0.06 metres deep.

It would be 3.342 metres from the ground to its base with a maximum projection of 0.8 metres and be made from aluminium.

It would have a grey background with white text, a yellow logo and be illuminated.

The fascia sign will measure 0.89 metres by 8.371 metres by 0.162 metres deep and be 2.915 metres from the ground while projecting 0.162 metres from the face of the building.

It will be made from acrylic aluminium, with white text on a grey background, and be illuminated.

The applicant has asked for permission for the sign to run for five years from January 26, 2024.
