Almost £2,500 has been raised for a Cumberland charity.

The money was raised for the Northern Fells Group at an arts, crafts and gifts fair.

The free event garnered the attendance of more than 300 visitors at Mungrisdale village hall.

It featured several artists and craftspeople from northern Cumberland, raising funds through the sale of unique and unusual items.

The two-day event, which also included a pop-up cafe staffed by volunteers, sold more than 200 bacon sandwiches alongside several gallons of tea and soup.

The cafe also offered a range of homemade cakes that were generously donated.

Organiser Philippa Groves said: “It was a massive success.

“We had an amazing array of arts, crafts and gifts on offer and some new faces for 2023, all the exhibitors were very happy with their sales and thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with each other.

“I’d like to say thanks to family and friends who supported me over the weekend as without their help none of it would have happened.

“And a massive thanks to the village hall committee who kindly waived the hall hire fee to support this great community event.”

The Northern Fells Group serves 3,700 residents across 200 square miles of rural and often remote areas in northern Cumbria, playing a vital role in maintaining community life.
