WITH Christmas fast approaching and people looking to wind down, searches for 'hidden escapes' have seen a staggering 136% increase in the past 12 months.
With this in mind, Sally's Cottages have conducted a study to reveal the UK's best-hidden winter destinations.
Bakewell in Derbyshire takes the first spot with a secrecy score of 4.12, followed by two Lake District towns, Grasmere (4.00) and Bowness-on-Windermere (3.93). Ambleside in the Lake District also makes it to the top five with a secrecy score of 3.84.
Commenting on the research, Sarah Pring, digital PR manager at Sally’s Cottages said: “Away from the tourist hotspots, there are many hidden gems in the UK, and as the festive season draws closer, we wanted to highlight these serene escapes for those looking to switch off and experience the Christmas magic.
“From Loch Awe in Scotland to Ambleside in the Lake District, we hope our research has inspired holidaymakers looking for refreshing breaks in the winter season.”
