THE landlord and landlady of a Brampton pub are celebrating five years since they took over.
Andrew and Ruth Seggie took the reigns of the market town's Howard Arms Hotel on Tuesday, December 5, 2018 and have marked the half-a-decade milestone.
The Howard Arms' landlady Ruth Seggie explained how the pub has changed her and her husband's lives.
She said: "It has changed our lives completely. You take on a pub - and it was our first pub, we had never done this before.
"I have been in hospitality for a long time and my husband was selling the kitchen at the time when we took this place on and we have hit the ground running ever since.
"It has been crazy from one moment to the next."
Ruth also thanked the local community who have rallied behind the pub and helped it thrive in the years since their takeover.
She said: "There are so many people we have met since doing this and people who we are lifelong friends with now.
"That is what keeps the pub going, it is the support from the people in Brampton.
"For them to come in and spend their money helps us thrive and we always wanted it to be a place where people to come whether you are an old gentleman who wants to sit and have a pint in the morning or a lady who wants to have a coffee or a family who want something to eat.
"It was always about everybody being welcome."
Andrew and Ruth will also mark another milestone in February 2024 with Valentine's Day representing five years since the Howard Arms Hotel re-opened following a refurbishment and Ruth promised that the occasion would be celebrated in style alongside several other events taking place at the pub in the new year.
She said: "2024 is going to be good for us, we have got lots of things planned in terms of music and events and we are going to pick a local charity to support and the celebrations will be amazing.
"We will have a big party for all our regulars and all our friends."
