POLICE patrols have been stopping cars in the Carlisle area.
This is part of a Christmas drink drive campaign across the county.
A spokesperson said: "Christmas Drink Drive Campaign- You may have seen the Police stopping drivers about 8am on the roads around Carlisle.
"To support our drink and drug driving campaign, we will be continuing to look for vehicles and their driver’s committing construction and use offences and conducting more breath tests and drug tests this month.
"So far since December 1, we have conducted over 250 tests as part of Op Limit and we will continue to do more.
"To avoid a fine or arrest, please make sure you do not risk driving, having had any intoxicants and before setting off, properly defrost your car and clear the mud from lights and plates."
