A Carlisle bridal shop owner has said she is bringing the ‘magic’ to Christmas with her ‘Frozen’ inspired Christmas shop window.

The owner of ‘Carol’s Bridal Boutique’ on Warwick Road, Carol Roberts has previously decorated her shop window during the festive season and has called on other shops to do likewise.

Her ‘Frozen’ inspired window features Sven and Olaf and a blue prom dress similar in style to the one worn by Elsa on the iconic, animated film.

Carol said that this window was particularly special as her young granddaughter, Ivy is a big fan of the film.

“I've always done something really special at Christmas,” said Carol.

“I just thought at the minute, people are struggling, and it sometimes feels like the town's quite flat, there's not a lot of magical things going on, and I just felt that I had to make something magical, something to make people stop and smile and you can't beat a bit of that Disney at Christmas.

“We decided to do the Frozen theme and just make it look really magical.

It just stops people in their tracks. Sometimes I sit outside, and people just put their shopping bags down and stand and take pictures and cars are almost bumper to bumper crashing into each other looking at it.”

Carol’s decorated windows have become a Carlisle tradition for some with previous years inspired by the popular Christmas ballet, ‘The Nutcracker’ and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake’.

“A girl who runs another shop said that it's like waiting for the Fenwick’s window in Newcastle, waiting for yours to come out at Christmas.

“I just thought that's so lovely that people appreciate it because all we want to do is make people smile.

“It's just a magical time and love Christmas myself. I absolutely love it. It's just a really lovely time of the year.”

Carol has called on other shopkeepers to join her and make Carlisle a Christmas window centre.

“I'd love it if others got involved,” said Carol.

“You look at all the other shops in the town you and there's not a lot going on and I think it’d be such a great boost for the centre to have all these lovely windows. It would feel Christmassy and just magical at this time of year.”
