In response to growing concerns over safety and antisocial behavior at Hammonds Pond, Cumbria Police have taken proactive steps to address the issues.
Over the past six months, neighborhood patrols have increased their presence in the area and undertaken various actions against antisocial behaviour (ASB).
Working collaboratively with Cumberland Council, The Friends of Hammonds Pond, and Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, efforts have been put towards the park's long-term issues.
Officers, PCSO's and staff from partner agencies have actively sought funding through the Safer Streets fund, leading to the commencement of improvements.
Work started last week on new lighting infrastructure aimed at making the park safer for everyone, year-round.
Going hand-in-hand with these efforts, police have seized and destroyed two off-road bikes, issued antisocial behaviour orders aimed at several children, and worked with local schools, clubs, parents and social housing providers.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "Much of this is the unseen work of your Neighbourhood Teams carry out 365 days a year, hopefully you will start to now see real tangible benefits specifically in the Hammonds Pond area."
