CUMBRIA Police have been taking action against criminal activity at Hammonds Pond in Carlisle.
Concerns have been raised numerous times about antisocial behaviour in the area.
A spokesperson said: "You have told us repeatedly of your concerns around Hammonds Pond, over the past 6 months Neighbourhood Patrols have been stepped up in the location. ASB has been challenged with diversion, support and enforcement.
"We have also been actively looking at ways to make the park safer and more accessible to more people.
"Officers have worked with colleagues across Cumberland Council, The Friends of Hammonds Pond and Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner to tackle long term issues.
"This has resulted in last week the breaking of ground on new lighting funded through the Safer Streets fund which was actively pursued on your behalf by our Officers, PCSO's and colleagues from partner agencies. This lighting will create a safer environment for all throughout the year.
"Alongside this preventative work Police have seized and destroyed 2 off road bikes, issued antisocial behaviour orders to a number of children and continued to work with Schools, Clubs, Parents and Social Housing Providers in the local area to offer alternatives and support to those seeking to choose the wrong path."
