OUTLINE planning permission is being sought for the development of five 'executive' style homes at Beacon Edge, Penrith.

The proposed site lies between houses known as East Larches and Lynwood.

Plans were submitted by Atkinson to Westmorland & Furness Council on November 30.

The site is currently used for agricultural purposes.

The plans specify that these prospective dwellings shall feature sizeable landscaped gardens, similar to other developments in the vicinity with the home reflecting the character of the surrounding houses.

Previously, planning permission for the same site was refused, however this application changes some of the site details including the access position.

"Our nearby, award-winning development, Mulberry Gardens, which was completed in 2021 received much positive feedback over how well the development fits into the overall character of the area, and the interest it generated shows that there is a distinct lack of opportunity for larger new properties in Penrith.

"In terms of the design approach for this proposal, we favour the more traditional approach, incorporating the use of local red sandstone with slate roofs, following the Victorian style of design.

"This means the houses will make a positive statement without it being too strident in appearance," the design and access statement reads.
