A star-studded line-up of celebrities descended upon Cumbria in 2023.

From renowned actors to a heavyweight boxing champion making a return visit, there was plenty for Cumbrians to get excited about.

Here’s a list of some of the famous faces we’ve captured in the news this year.

Robson Green & Mark Benton

Actor and presenter Robson Green alongside Mark Benton soaked up a Gypsy way of life in a horse-drawn journey with Wanderlusts Gypsy Caravans, as part of filming for the BBC series, Robson Green's Weekend Escapes.

The duo spent an evening with Wanderlusts owner, Barny Maurice, cooking and singing around the fire alongside famous folk musician Paddy Rogan

Steve Coogan Lee Mack and Paul Whitehouse

Steve, Lee and Paul rallied behind a campaign to address the issue of sewage pollution in Lake Windermere back in June.

James Cosmo

The Scottish-screen icon, known for Braveheart and Game of Thrones, brought the star power to Whitehaven’s Christmas Fair on December 8.

The legendary actor was in town for a special in-store singing event at Richardson's of Whitehaven, to promote his new premium blended Scotch whisky, Storyman.

Charlie Hunnam

Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam took a trip to a Sandwith pub as he took part in the coast-to-coast.

Charlie stopped by the Dog and Partridge in Sandwith yesterday (July 9). He was taking part in the coast-to-coast, which sets off from St Bees and spans the west and east coasts of northern England. It's around 190 miles long.

Tom Walker

The Scottish popstar who is known for hit songs like Leave a Light On and Just You and I, visited the Raw War paintball site in Aspatria for his friend's stag do in September.

Helen Skelton

The beloved television personality, Helen Skelton, made a triumphant return to her Cumbrian roots as part of her new book tour at the Old Fire Station in October. 

The event offered fans a meet and greet as well as the opportunity to nab a signed copy of her new memoir In My Stride: Lessons Learned Through Life and Adventure.

The Scouse comedy icon lit up staff's faces at The Queen’s Hotel in St Bees when he popped in for a meal with friends, while undertaking the famous Coast-to-Coast challenge back in June.

Tyson Fury

The former WBC heavyweight champion of the world created an unforgettable moment with his fans at Fantails. 

Fury brought a bit of red to the evening as he donned a Manchester United top just hours after they lost the FA Cup final to Manchester City at Wembley stadium.

Chesney Hawkes

Headlining this year's Christmas Lights Switch-On was 'The One and Only' Chesney Hawkes, with an added guest appearance by Carlisle United Manager Paul Simpson.

He said before his performance that he met with fans, enjoyed a meal at the Old Bank, and bought chocolates from Castle Chocolates.

Timmy Mallett

TV legend Timmy Mallett came to Carlisle to do a talk and book signing in November at Carlisle Cathedral's Fratry Hall.  

Grace Dent 

No stranger to Carlisle but the award-winning food writer and restaurant critic Grace Dent celebrated her 50th birthday in her hometown as part of her new book tour. 

The MasterChef judge played a gig at Carlisle's Old Fire Station (October 3) 'discussing the food we eat when nobody is watching'.
