FREEMASONS in West Cumbria have been helping those in need this Christmas.
On Christmas day Cumbria Freemasons held a dinner party for people who may have been lonely or struggling at this time of the year.
People were invited to the Masonic Centre at Cleator Moor to enjoy a meal and a chat with others who may have been in a similar predicament.
For those who were unable to attend meals were delivered allowing people in the area a chance to enjoy their Christmas day as much as possible.
A Cumbria Freemasons spokesperson said: "Christmas Day was busy in our province as we hosted Christmas dinner at Cleator Moor Masonic Centre, for all those who are lonely and struggling on the day.
"We also delivered meals to people who can’t attend to ensure no one is lonely and left out on Christmas Day. Freemasonry at its finest."
Freemasons in the county have ensured Christmas has remained important for those involved with their group and also the wider community this year.
Earlier this month the Ennerdale Lodge made a donation to the Wasdale Mountain Rescue service.
The head of Cumberland and Westmorland Freemasons also issued a Christmas message to everyone across the county.
The provincial grand master William Bewley said: "I extend season’s greetings to you and your loved ones at this very special time of year.
"A time when we remember Christmases past, children opening presents and shouting 'Merry Christmas' to our neighbours as we prepare for the feasting of the day."
He continued: "As Brethren meet in their Lodges, exchange greetings, enjoy the warmth of each other’s company making this another special time to remember.
"The greetings from our provincial grand chaplain encompass the essence of Christmas and remind us of why we celebrate.
"I am proud to serve as your provincial grand master, I thank you all for your support and on behalf of Jennifer and myself wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year."
