A CARE home in Carlisle has been rated as 'good' following a visit from the health watchdog.

Norfolk Road, run by Community Integrated Care, was rated following an inspection from the Care Quality Commission in November.

The service provides accommodation and personal care for up to 6 people with learning disabilities.

At the time of the inspection, there were five people using the service.

Inspectors found that "the service gave people opportunities to try new activities that enhanced and enriched their lives.

"Staff focused on people's strengths and promoted what they could do, so people had a fulfilling and meaningful everyday life," the report reads.

Inspectors noted that the care provider ensured there was a sufficient number of staff to support residents in doing the things they enjoyed and to guarantee their safety.

The team at Norfolk Road was described as promoting a positive, personalised, and open culture.

Relatives spoke highly of the staff, noting they treated residents with care and kindness.

One relative said: "[Person] is always happy to go back home after visits to the family.

"They run back in their house. I'm so relieved they moved there, it's been the best place they have lived," the report said.

The service has upheld its 'Good' rating.
