SEVERAL roads will be closed temporarily in Penrith due to gas infrastructure upgrades.
Northern Gas Networks are upgrading the gas infrastructure underneath some of the main roads through Penrith, resulting in road closures.
Police in the Eden area have warned drivers which roads will be affected.
A spokesperson said: "Phase 1 sees Middlegate closed from January 3 until January 26.
"There are advanced warning signs from J40 to Brunswick Road.
"Please do not go through the no entry signs onto Brunswick Square - this is an offence for which you may receive a fine.
"Phase 2 of the works will see Devonshire Street closed from January 22 to February 5.
"Phase 3 of the works will see King Street closed from February 5 to March 8.
"All enquiries should be directed to Northern Gas Networks Customer Care on 0800 040 7766."
