Central Station car park in Workington is set to be partially closed at the start of the New Year as work begins on a new NHS facility.
Cumberland Council announced the partial shutdown, commencing in January, to pave the way for an NHS Community Diagnostic Centre.
The new centre will provide vital services like MRI, CT, and ultrasound scans.
From Monday 8 January, portions of the popular car park will be roped off, however, ample spaces will still be accessible.
These available spaces will predominantly be at the city-end site.
Cumberland Council reassures permit holders they can continue using the car park during this time.
The council has also put measures in place to guide users to the reserved parking areas.
Whilst acknowledging potential inconvenience, the council urges community members to park elsewhere, particularly in their multi-storey car park, which offers undercover, secure parking at a reasonable fee.
In the council's statement it said: "We appreciate your patience and support during these necessary improvements and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
Any enquiries related to the car park closure or additional information on other car parks can be directed to car.parks@cumberland.gov.uk.
