The next phase of a major redevelopment project in Carlisle is underway

The Carlisle Station Gateway project is in full flow, as work on the next phase is scheduled to begin on January 8 (Monday).

It will see the demolition of The Pools begin, and as a result, the temporary closure of the nearby footway at the top of James Street.

Pedestrians are asked to use the footpath on the opposite side of the road.

There will be clear diversion signs in place to guide the public, according to Cumberland Council.

Anyone with questions is asked to either chat with the staff on-site or contact the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736 or online at https://bit.ly/ReportAProblemCumberland.

A spokesperson from the council said: "We appreciate your support and patience during these works and apologise for any inconvenience and disruption caused."
