A COUPLE who took a chance on a dating app tied the knot in front of family and friends before taking a honeymoon where they got engaged.

Auctioneer Nathan Copland, 25, and Nelly Mochan, 24, first met on Tinder in 2021 and became an 'instant match' after chatting for hours on end.

After several dates, sometime later the pair decided to make it official.

At the time when they were first speaking, Nelly was living and working at her parents' B&B in Ingleton, North Yorkshire and Nathan, who grew up in Hexham where he also had a business, moved away in 2021 to Cumbria to become an auctioneer.

The pair now live in Dalston.

A year later after they met, Nathan decided to propose.

He said: "I proposed to Nelly on a rooftop bar overlooking the sea in Tenerife on her birthday, June 17, 2022.

"For my stag do, I went to Liverpool with the lads and dads, whereas Nelly had a quiet one in Hexham with friends."

The couple chose to get married at Hexham House, where the ceremony was, followed by a reception at Beaumont Hotel for the wedding breakfast on November 4, 2023.

Nelly's dress was handmade by a small business on Etsy.

The best men were Hugo, Luke, and Gabe, and Nelly's bridesmaids were Ted and Hannah.

Nathan's ring was a thick plain gold band which was an auction find, and Nelly's was a wishbone to fit with her emerald and diamond engagement ring - also an auction discovery.

The couple's cake was a 'Slinky Caterpillar Cake' followed by their first dance which was 'You Make Me Feel Like Dancing' by Leo Sayer.

Nathan said: "Our favourite time of the day was the 20 minutes or so we spent in the room, alone together, after the breakfast and everything, before being announced for the first time.

"We stood on the windowsill looking over the park and seeing the evening guests arrive.

"For our honeymoon, we had a quick little trip back to Tenerife for five nights as our son is still only little and we didn’t want to leave him too long... but we’re planning a food and wine tour of Italy in the coming years."
