A chart-topping band is coming to Cumbria for a gig.

Glasgow-based rhythm and blues band The Vintage Explosion is set to rock the stage at The Old Fire Station in Carlisle this April.

In the past 12 months, The Vintage Explosion have had three number one albums on the worldwide iTunes blues album chart, number three on the worldwide iTunes album chart, and a top ten place on the US Billboard blues album chart.

They have also sold out on a 14 date UK tour, were specially invited to perform at the BBC Big Birthday Bash on television as the house band, and made their live debut on national television on This Morning on ITV.

Their debut studio album, which is called ‘Havin Such a Good Time’, features number one singles ‘Don’t Knock Upon My Door’ and ‘Take My Troubles Away’.

It has gone straight to number one on the worldwide iTunes blues alubm chart.

Music legend Rod Stewart has taken note of the band’s talent and stage presence.

He expressed his admiration of the group and stated of the lead singer: “This guy is the best white soul singer I’ve heard.

“He is unbelievable, I am dumbfounded by how good he is.

“He delivers a song like Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ in his own unique way.”

Music mag Vintage Rock Magazine said the most recent album by them is a ‘stunning debut album, pinballing across multiple genres’.

Tickets cost £32.45 to see them in Carlisle on April 19, with performances starting at 7.30pm.

Support is to be announced for the standing-only gig, and the event is only for people aged 18 or over.
