Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle is in the Care Quality Commission 'Good' books after being praised for operating a safe and well-led service.

The care home, run by Barchester Healthcare on Newtown Road, was providing personal and nursing care to 67 people at the time of inspection. 

The report stated that residents at the home received good quality person-centred care and were supported by kind, caring, respectful staff.

The inspectors found that the manager of the home was committed to providing the best quality care for people and to promoting a positive culture for both residents and staff that was open, inclusive and empowering and achieves good outcomes for people.

One staff member said: “I feel supported, I know I can approach colleagues and learn everything I need to.”

Residents were very complimentary about the home and the staff, comments included: “I feel safe here, I couldn’t ask for any better.”

Another resident said: "They come if you push the buzzer. They can't do enough for you. I'm very safe here I couldn't ask for better."

A relative added: “We cannot speak highly enough of this place, the staff are superb. We couldn’t want for a better home for our loved one.”

Janette Lawrence, general manager at Lanercost House Care Home said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Lanercost House has retained its ‘Good’ rating following the CQC’s most recent inspection.

"It is fantastic to have the hard work and dedication of everyone here recognised, we have a wonderful team and I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.”

Lanercost House Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers.

 Lanercost House Care Home provides residential and specialist dementia care for 93 residents from respite care to long term stays.

It has upheld its 'Good' rating from 2018.
