AN award-winning restaurant on the borders has announced its closure.
Greens Bar & Restaurant, located at Gretna Green, one of the top wedding destinations in the UK, closed on January 19.
Despite the closure, no jobs will be lost the firm has stated.
The restaurant previously won the Best New Restaurant Award at the 2023 Food Industry Awards.
Executive chairman John Holliday cited growing economic problems and the ongoing cost of living crisis within the hospitality sector as reasons for the closure.
"It’s with a heavy heart that we make this announcement and we’ve moved staff into other parts of our wedding business.
"We had the pleasure of serving the local community and visitors alike and we are immensely grateful for the support and patronage we have received," he said.
When it first opened, the business brought 15 new full and part-time jobs from kitchen to front-of-house positions to the area.
Greens was bought out of administration by Gretna Green Ltd in 2016.
It was a functional hotel until COVID struck in 2020.
The company is urging people to use the nearby The Old Toll Bar just across the road or Smiths Hotel.
