Carlisle Jazz Club has announced its February programme, promising weekly events for jazz lovers.

Running every Thursday at 8.30pm at the Carlisle Rugby Union Club, the jazz nights bring together local favourites and newcomers to the stage.

Kicking off the month on February 1, attendees will be treated to Roz Sluman's Big Shoes Band.

The group is known for its mix of fiery bop and smooth vocals, provided by Pete Hoban.

This performance will cost £9 for members and £11 for guests.

On February 8, The Luca Brasi Group from Lancaster promises to deliver a performance of many tunes from the Great American Song Book.

Swing, be-bop and Latin Jazz lovers can look forward to their first appearance at the club.

The entry cost will be £7 for members and £9 for guests.

On February 15, the club will welcome back violinist, Andy Lawrenson, a year after his last performance at the club.

His trio includes Simon O’Byrne on guitar, playing in the style of Django Reinhardt, and Paul Grainger on double bass.

This performance is also priced at £7 for members and £9 for guests.

On February 22, the Vieux Carre Hot Four returns to the stage, promising a night filled with interpretations from Louis Armstrong to Clarence Hayes, and a whole spectrum of Trad Jazz.

This show will also cost £7 for members and £9 for guests.

Concluding the month’s line-up on February 29 is the Hotcha Swing Quartet.

The gypsy swing quartet, who had a well-received debut last October, are led by Jon Moore on guitar with support from Heath Lavery on violin, Alan Pill on guitar and Ed Harrison playing the bass.

Again, admission will be £7 for members and £9 for guests.

Jazz enthusiasts can enjoy the full range of club events for a monthly membership of £5.
