Drainage works will be installed to alleviate flood risks in a west Cumbrian village.
Genesis Homes was granted permission from Cumberland Council to construct 99 new homes, including 18 affordable ones, in Seaton near Workington.
As part of the plan, an attenuation pond will be created for additional drainage capacity, as well as serving the development site.
Nicky Gordon, the chief executive of Genesis Homes, said: "It is important to us as a responsible housebuilder that we create much-needed, top quality new housing for communities across Cumbria, and we work with local organisations and residents to identify their particular needs.
"Installing an attenuation pond as part of our upcoming project will help to alleviate flooding experienced elsewhere in the area, and will effectively serve the housing development sites."
The homes will be a part of the Derwent Rise development, which will comprise of two, three, four and five-bedroomed homes, as well as two and three-bedroomed bungalows.
Mr Gordon continued: "Our Derwent Rise development in Seaton has been sensitively designed to complement the amazing character of the wider village, and we are pleased to be providing much-needed new homes to local residents.
"The development will include 18 affordable homes to help local people find their dream home or get on the property ladder, and we are looking forward to being embedded within the Seaton community."
Construction at Derwent Rise is expected to begin in spring, with the homes set to be launched for sale come summer.
The development will also see landscaping works deployed to retain and enhance the local ecosystem, with wildflower meadows and tree planting.
Mr Gordon finished by stating: "Genesis Homes is very passionate about positively impacting the surrounding environment and ecology, and we are looking forward to starting work to create homes local people will be proud of."
