A MOTHER and daughter decided to do a two-in-one ceremony at Kinmount House in Scotland to make the occasion extra special.
On Sunday, November 19, Leigh McPake not only married the love of her life, taxi driver Sean, but she also witnessed the vow renewal of her mother, Denise, and John, who have been married 36 years on the same day.
Photographer Leigh,34, from Carlisle, who met Sean,38, 16 years ago, said: "The decision to share the big day was totally spur of the moment.
"In February 2020, my mam asked us if we would come on holiday for their vow renewal, and Sean then said you should do it when we get married, which was totally out of the blue! So, we just planned the wedding/vow renewal.
"Sean and I had a joint stag/hen at Alton Towers with our friends; then my bridesmaids organised a weekend away at Westlands, which was fantastic.
"When we got married on Sunday, November 19, 2023, our theme was dark, moody and gothic, mainly black and red; I went for a beautiful Mori Lee gown, which I got from Simply Koko, and Sean went for a House of Cavarni order online.
"Our best man was our son Dominic, and the flower dude/usher was my brother Aidan Hodgson. Then we had our daughter Poppy McPake as our maid of honour, and Joanne Carter was also our maid of honour. My bridesmaids were my longtime best friends Nicole Bingham, Kayliegh Notman, Megan Rose, and Kirstie Williams.
"We had a small and intimate affair with only 40 people day and night.
"We had prosecco beers and canapés, a BBQ feast for reception and hot dogs for the evening. "Our favours were personalised coffin biscuits, mini handmade candles, and sweets in a small black gift bag.
"Then we had our first dance to Gerry Cinnamon 'Canter'.
"Our honeymoon was in Calpe, Spain for five days with no kids as my mam kindly had them.
"The whole day was sentimental from start to finish, and sharing the day with my mam and dad was something I didn't think would ever happen, and it was beyond special; another would be the morning getting ready.
"Our registrar, Mark Smith, was fantastic as well as he really shortened the ceremony for us as he knew Sean couldn't stand or walk for very long periods of time, and the venue was great for Sean to take breaks and have a buggy to get him from a to b as well!
"We couldn't have been any happier."
